A Poem Instead

I wanted to write an essay

I placed the paper on the desk

I lit the candle

Reviewed the outline

But then

The kinder couldn’t sleep

Something had caused him to scare

The freshman needed help

Algebra is a bear

So I couldn’t write the essay

I wrote this poem instead
